Upper Yarra U3A’s third Topics of Interest talk this year will be ‘Loose Feet Wandering with a Camera’ by Jim McKewan on Monday 28th April at 2pm. It will be held at the Main Meeting Room, Yarra Ranges Council Family Centre, corner Hoddle Street and Warburton Highway, Yarra Junction.
Warburton-based Jim is a professional photographer and has worked with ‘The Age’ newspaper. He has travelled extensively and gave an excellent and very well received presentation on the stories behind some of his amazing photos to U3A back in 2022.
Jim will talk about tales of fun and games, illustrated with photos back to the 70’s from his own personal travel photography collection. Among the many tales, 2 weeks in a kombi under the Eiffel tower.

The fourth talk will be Trekking in Nepal on Monday 26th May complete with slide show.
Our own David Borton trekked part of the Annapurna circuit in 2016 at age 66 and inspired by the people, their varied culture and spectacular scenery, went back in 2018 to watch the sun rise behind Mt Everest from the top of Gokyo Ri a 5,357m mountain.
With a selection of photos from both trips David will talk about the many issues to be considered when trekking in Nepal, e.g altitude and sickness, variable and extreme weather, hygiene, language, cash society, and being adaptable. He will also talk about the fantastic people, their varied culture and cuisine, the spectacular scenery and its associated risks.
All U3A members are welcome. To assist with seating arrangements please advise the office on 5967 1702 of your intention to attend either of these talks or send an email to U3A Upper Yarra – University of the Third Age
